Devcon Plastic Steel Epoxy vs. JB Weld Original

Devcon Plastic Steel Epoxy is a high-performance metal-filled epoxy adhesive and filler that is known for its exceptional bonding strength. Specially made for different metal surfaces, this adhesive repairs those areas where welding or brazing would be impossible.

On the contrary, JB Weld Original is a two-part Cold Weld epoxy system that can create strong, lasting bonds between different types of surfaces. Be it metal, ceramic, wood, or others, the bond it can create is durable and strong.

I have compared and contrasted these two amazing adhesives for your better understanding.

Strength

Devcon Plastic Steel Epoxy is known widely for its incredible strength. This adhesive has a tensile strength of 5600 psi and, therefore, provides a super strong bond between surfaces.

It doesn’t matter if you are using it on steel, aluminum, or other metals; the bonding strength will surprise you.

With a tensile strength of 5020 psi, JB Weld Original is also strong. However, it doesn’t provide as strong a bond as the Devcon adhesive.

Durability

Devcon Plastic Steel Epoxy can withstand 250ºF of heat before melting apart. However, as JB Weld Original can resist up to 550ºF of heat, it offers better durability comparatively.

Devcon 10110 vs. JB Weld Steel Stick

Devcon 10110 is the original metal-filled epoxy putty that is industrial-grade and used for hundreds of routine maintenance, production, and tooling applications.

Similarly, the JB Weld Steel Stick is also an industrial-strength putty that is steel-reinforced and non-rusting to ensure strength and durability to the users.

Here is how these two epoxy puttys differ from one another.

Devcon 10110 vs JB Weld Steel Stick

Performance

When it comes to performance, Devcon 10110 performs better than the JB Weld Steel Stick.

This epoxy putty has a high tensile strength of 8260 psi and can work on a variety of surfaces, including metals, concrete, and plastics.

It provides a super strong bond for repairing and rebuilding for your convenience.

On the other hand, the tensile strength of the JB Weld Steel Stick is almost half compared to the Devcon. With a strength of 4000 psi, it can create a strong bond, but not as strong as Devcon 10110.

Longevity

As fantastic as its performance is, Devcon 10110 putty doesn’t offer extended longevity. This putty can withstand just 250ºF of heat before it melts down.

However, the JB Steel Stick can resist 300ºF of temperature and, hence, offers better durability than the Devcon putty.

Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy vs. JB Weld Clear Weld

Devcon 2-Ton Epoxy is a popular and widely used two-part epoxy that is designed specifically for high clarity and good impact resistance. You can use it on both ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces according to your needs and convenience.

On the other hand, JB Weld Clear Weld is a quick setting, multipurpose two-part epoxy that forms a hard, permanent bond on different types of surfaces.

It dries into a clear, transparent bond and, hence, doesn’t expose that you have used adhesive on the surface.

Go through the table below to see the differences between Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy and JB Weld Clear Weld at a glance.

Strength

With a tensile strength of 2500 psi, the Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy creates a strong bond between the surfaces it is used on.

However, as JB Weld Clear Weld has a high tensile strength of 3900 psi, it is much stronger than its competitor. And therefore offers better adhesion and repair than the Devcon.

Usage

When it comes to where you can use these adhesives, there is a very slight difference between Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy and JB Weld Clear Weld.

While you can use Devcon on concrete and china, the Clearweld doesn’t work on these surface the best.

Last Opinion

From the Devcon vs. JB Weld comparison, it is very much clear that they have a number of products that act differently in different conditions and surfaces.

That’s why it won’t be wise of me to tag one of them as the best and the other not. But then again, as I have compared different Devcon products with different JB Weld products, it will be easier for you to pick the best.

Buy the one that suits your needs perfectly.
